We’re looking for a part-time Coordinator to organise fun events for Wellington Deaf community
from March 2025 onwards. Events include:
- Monthly Deaf Club gatherings (Friday evening)
- Monthly special events (Friday, Saturday or Sunday)
- Monthly morning teas for Senior Citizens (mid-week)
Tasks include coordinating activities, materials, volunteers, and food at our events. You will oversee
promotion of such events (e.g. flyers, social media, text). You will liaise with the Newsletter Editor
and contribute stories to the WDS quarterly newsletter. You will work with the WDS Board to manage
emails, membership, events-related expenditures and apply for grants.
Expectations:
- Flexible working arrangements based in Wellington
- Attendance at 3 monthly Deaf Club events
- Fixed term contract for 12 months / 30 hours a month
- Have own computer / internet access / car to carry out the work effectively
So what kind of requirements and skills are we looking for?
- Fluent in NZSL
- Positive and friendly, can connect with a wide range of people in the Deaf community
- Creative (e.g. have great ideas for activities that suit the Deaf community)
- Excellent communication and marketing skills
- Have computer skills (Microsoft Office, skills in design work an advantage)
- Have financial knowledge
- Have full driver’s license and can use personal vehicle for events-related activities
- Can work independently and is self-motivated, well-organised, responsible and reliable
- A fun (& good) attitude is a must!
